Follow these steps to add post categories to your WordPress menu:
- Access the Header Pattern:
- In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Appearance > Editor > Patterns > Header.
- Select the “Header” pattern you want to edit.
- Edit the Navigation:
- Click on the navigation area within the header.
- Look for the black “+” (plus) sign and click it to add a new menu item.
- Add the Category:
- In the search bar that appears, type the name of the category you want to add (In our example we use our category called “Media”).
- From the search results, select the menu item with the slug /category/category-name. You should see a label to the right indicating it’s a category.
- Final Checks:
- Confirm that you’ve selected the correct slug. By default, categories use /category/ and tags use /tag/.
- If you’ve renamed the category or if your site is translated, the slug might appear differently. Make sure it matches your intended setup.
