How do I add post categories to my menu?

Follow these steps to add post categories to your WordPress menu:

  1. Access the Header Pattern:
    • In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Appearance > Editor > Patterns > Header.
    • Select the “Header” pattern you want to edit.
  2. Edit the Navigation:
    • Click on the navigation area within the header.
    • Look for the black “+” (plus) sign and click it to add a new menu item.
  3. Add the Category:
    • In the search bar that appears, type the name of the category you want to add (In our example we use our category called “Media”).
    • From the search results, select the menu item with the slug /category/category-name. You should see a label to the right indicating it’s a category.
  4. Final Checks:
    • Confirm that you’ve selected the correct slug. By default, categories use /category/ and tags use /tag/.
    • If you’ve renamed the category or if your site is translated, the slug might appear differently. Make sure it matches your intended setup.
